Oh! I love this time of year. There is just so many fun things happening! By now the scholars are completely comfortable in the classroom. They know the procedures and expectations. One of my favorite things to hear is the contented hum of students as they are fully engaged and working on their classwork.
MATH: There is a lot of information for math this week. 1. Last week we took a small quiz on subtraction within 20. That quiz will be in the red homework folders on Tuesday. Feel free to look over it with your child and go over anything they may have missed. You do not need to send it back to school. 2. The Chapter 6 - Addition and Subtraction within 20 chapter test is this Thursday. As with every math unit we will spend the Wednesday math block reviewing. These reviews always include test taking skills such as looking at the problem, decided what needs to be done to solve it, then solving the problem. The review will be sent home on Wednesday. It will not be graded or checked for accuracy. Feel free to go over it with your child if you choose. 3. This math unit was large and full of new information so there will be a larger amount of math homework than usual on Wednesday night. Therefore, Wednesday night homework with have a math and spelling word focus only. 4. We will begin our geometry unit on Friday. LITERATURE: We just finished Frog and Toad are Friends. The students get to keep that book in their desk to enjoy reading during the day or after school during pick-up. Last week we sent home Owl at Home. Please do not send Owl at Home back to school.
