Hello everybody!
Wow! I know I said wow last week to, but this week calls for another wow. GENERAL INFORMATION: As I know you have all heard, this morning the governor announced that all schools would be closed through the end of the school year. While no one wanted that to happen I am sure we could all see it coming. In my full teaching career so far, I have worked for five different school districts. I do not plan on leaving the Great Hearts district because of all the districts I have worked in, Great Hearts is the most organized and supportive of teachers and families. Teachers are working and training to learn how to teach and support their students. Continue to be on the look-out for more information as we move from classroom learning to remote learning. AT-HOME PACKET INFORMATION: Week two packets are available to download at at the following link: https://archwaytriviumeast.greatheartsamerica.org/remote-learning/. It is password protected by one password for all: ATHENIANS (in all-caps). Paper packets were made available this morning. Just like last week, the afternoon packet pick-up will be held from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Drive through the line on the east side of campus and let the teachers know which grade level packets you need. Please hold on to last week's packets for now. ACADEMICS: All academics areas are covered in week two of the packets. Please note the Xtramath is the first math activity each day and must be completed each day. Please continue to with daily written and oral phonogram practice and well as daily reading. PERSONAL THOUGHTS: I will continue to update my blog on a weekly basis through the remainder of this school year. it will, of course, contain basic information, but with this change and events that are taking place I will also be including some more personal thoughts. That is one of my ways to connect with you, the parents of all my incredible students. I do feel sad right now. Each August I get a new group of students and as the year progresses I come to know and love each one of them. I was holding on to the hope that we would be able to return for a few short weeks at the end of the quarter. Please tell your child how much I love him/her and that they are in my thoughts every day. NAMING THE GOOD: Mr. Philabaum always end our staff meetings with naming the good. I am going to add that to my weekly blog. - I have been and will continue to learn technology skills for Google Classroom, to connect with with students, and videos. - When I go to the grocery store everyone is so friendly! People are polite, respectful, and shouting out "good morning" through their car windows. - I have had time to connect with my son - I have received so many e-mails and pictures from my students! COMMUNICATION: As always, do not hesitate to contact me with questions about classwork, etc. If your scholar wants to e-mail me, they can. I will be sure to reply. Feel free to continue to name the good by e-mailing me and letting me know about good things happening with you and with your children whom I miss very much. Be safe. Be well. Be positive.

Hello! Okay! Wow! I really didn't see this coming - these weird surreal type of events. When I said good-bye to all my students at the end of 3rd qurater, I assumed I would be seeing them two weeks later. I always tell my students that I, as a teacher, am always learning. I am now, slowly, allowing myself to learn some tech stuff. One of the things I learned this weekend is how to record a video using my school lap top and how to upload it onto YouTube. I DID IT! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-kh2BsW0sY This was recorded specifically for my students so they could see me and I could say hi. Please make sure they see it! Thank you! AT HOME PACKETS: Mr. Philabaum sent out information about how to pick up or download the at-home packets to all ATE families this past Friday. If you have not received those e-mails you may want to check your spam folder. During the course of the regular school year, each lead teacher is in charge of planning a specific subject. I plan math, Mrs. Moreno plans ELA, and Mrs. Shulder plans social studies and science. Mrs. Richards often helps plan Spalding and Social Studies. That remains the same for the at-home packets your receive this week. Everything in this week's packet is intended to be a review. Please read the directions carefully. Please e-mail me if you have questions about the packet content. PARENT COMMUNICATION: As stated above, please e-mail me if you have questions about anything and I will do my best to answer. I will be setting aside a block of time each week day to focus on answering any e-mails. You can also e-mail me just to tell me about something your child is doing or learning. I loved the pictures many of you sent to me. TEACHER / STUDENT COMMUNICATION: Please make sure your scholars are able to view the video I made for them. Here is the link again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-kh2BsW0sY They can also e-mail me. During my set block of time when I am answering e-mails from parents, I will also reply to some of their e-mails. Be Safe. Be Wise. MARBLE JAR PARTY:
