BEAUTIFUL ROCK COLLECTIONS: First graders love the geology unit. They love to study rocks! They also love to bring the rock collections to school. First grade rock collections grow at a very quick rate!! Now that we have moved on to astronomy, I have told the scholars that they can not bring rocks to school anymore. Most of the collections are staying home, but there are still a few stray rock collections showing up in the classroom and in backpacks. If you could please take a peak inside the backpacks before school for the next few days and make sure rock collections stay at home I would appreciate it! :-) MATH: We are wrapping up our "Numbers Through 120" unit this week. The review is tomorrow and the test is this Wednesday. On Thursday we will begin the final math unit of first grade which is the unit on Money. One of those favorite things is being able to celebrate birthdays with my students. Every single child, including those that have summer birthdays, have the chance to be be in the spotlight on their special day. I love celebrating my birthday with my students too. It doesn’t get any better than having dozens of little ones come to you with pictures, gifts, hugs, birthday greetings that are squeezed out between huge smiles, and off-key birthday tunes. I also wanted to tell you thank you for all the generous gifts you sent in with your children. I felt like my desk and turned into a flower shop! Everyone helped make my day delightful and I appreciate that!

I loved it because I had the chance to play and be silly with my students at every single station! One of the our parents gave our class a really nice compliment. I can't remember the exact words, but the basic message was that our class was easy and fun to work with. Good job 1B!
