I love this time of year! Even though the scholars are wiggly they are also happy and excited - except when they are cutting. Have you ever had the opportunity to watch 30 six and seven year-olds cut? The room is silent and the minds are completely focused on the task. It is so fun to watch!
JANUARY PROJECT WEEK: The first wave of information about project week was placed in your child's blue Friday folder. This letter included the Egyptian figure your scholar will be researching upon their return to school in January. For those who were absent on Friday, the letter has been placed in their red homework folders. ACADEMICS: Spalding - Students learned 10 new words today. We will review the 10 words on Tuesday. The spelling test on the 10 words is on Wednesday. Math - Geometry enrichment activities History - We are reviewing the concepts taught during the Early American Civilization unit today. The unit test is on Tuesday. A study guide went home in the homework folders last Thursday. I will send the review the class worked today in the red homework folders. They are not being checked for completion or accuracy. Please do not send them back to school. Literature - Frog and Toad all Year - Poetry recitations are this week UPCOMING DATES: Monday, December 17 - Full Day of School at Archway Trivium East Tuesday & Wednesday, -December 18-19 - Half Day Dismissal, 12 PM No lunch or clubs on half days. December 20-January 7 - No School: Winter Break Tuesday, January 8 -School Resumes January 8-11 - Half Day Dismissal at 12 PM/Project Week No lunch or clubs on half days. Hi! This week has been so full that it seems like the concert was a month ago rather than just a week ago. I do believe that 1B had the most handsome young men, the most beautiful young ladies, and sang the best of all three classes. (I am not biased or anything... well, maybe a little.) ;-)
UNIFORM REMINDERS: Below is a few reminders about uniforms and the dress code. The full policy can be found on pages 50-54 in our Family Handbook. · Students may wear the school sweater or pullover fleece jacket in the classroom · Students may wear a non-school sweater or jacket, or a school spirit sweater outside the classroom (ex. recess, PE) · Girls may wear tights with their skirts/jumpers, but not leggings (tights have feet, leggings do not) · School uniform shirts have long and short sleeve options, students may not wear a long-sleeve shirt under their short-sleeve uniform Some uniform reminders not related to weather: · Outerwear and backpacks should be free of logos, messages, and icons of popular culture. This includes keychains/toys attached to backpacks · All shoes must be solid white or solid black low-top athletic shoes · Students may wear spirit-wear including shirts and sweaters on spirit days · Boy's socks: solid black, navy, or white covering the ankle but below the shin Girl's socks: solid black, navy, or white covering the ankle but below the shin or knee-high ARCHWAY TRIVIUM EAST PROJECT WEEK The first week in January after Winter Break (January 8-11) is Project Week at Archway Trivium East. During these four days, we have half-day dismissal with the expectation that students will use the afternoons to work on their projects. Projects will be presented by students on the evening of Wednesday, January 16 at our annual school-wide Project Night. This year our theme is History! More information will be sent home soon. I do encourage you to have your scholar continue practicing math facts during break. We will start studying "Numbers to 40" in mid-January.
