The class enjoys school and haven't yet acquired the summer vacation itch that makes them antsy and forget every classroom procedure we have. ;-) Students are settled, confident, first graders and they show an amazing amount of growth. - Yay for Foxtrot, Waltz, and Tango!!!! Have a beautiful week! Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great spring break! 4th quarter is full of so many different activities. Be sure to check this blog and the Athenian Echo that comes out every Friday for information about all the different events.
REPORT CARDS: This is Parent Portal directions from a parent perspective. I post it in the blog each quarter just in case you need it... Hi Mrs Spencer! Here’s how I look at the grades on my iPhone. I’m not sure if it will look different on android phones. I open the link sent by the school and log in. I then turn my phone sideways to get the biggest view of the website. It really helps!!! At the top left corner, directly under the students names, there are 2 arrows. One Up/down arrow and one side to side arrow. Open the side to side arrow by clicking on it. This opens a menu on the left hand side. The menu has links for report card, grades and grade history and some other items that don’t seem to give any real information. Click on The report card link. That gives access to your comments and number grades for each subject. You have to keep scrolling down to see everything. This gives the most information. It also gives last quarters grades so you can compare. The grades link is where I find the “IP” and “P” grades for classes including specials. The Grade history link shows me kinder and first grade “P” and “IP” grades. I find the report card and grades to be the most beneficial links in the menu. I hope this helps!!" GENERAL ACADEMICS: Spalding - Students will learn 10 new words Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The review will be on Thursday, and the spelling test will be on Friday. Math - Time to the hour and half hour *Note - A "Friendly Notes" information page will be placed in your scholar's red homework folder tomorrow (Tuesday). History - "The 13 Colonies" (Oh!!!!! This is my favorite history unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Literature - Sam the Minute Man Poetry - "The Village Blacksmith" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow *Note - Stanza 1 only!!!!!!!!! UPCOMING DATES: Friday, March 18 - Reading Under the Stars Family Event, 6:30-8 PM (My class starts at 6:45 so I won't be attending as I would have to leave by 6:30 which is when the event starts. Have fun!!!!!!) March 21-25 - Annual Water Drive Tuesday, March 22 - PSO Night at Culver's Friday, March 25 - Half Day Dismissal, 12 PM Spirit Day and Field Day Thursday, March 31 - School Nurse Appreciation Day ON A PERSONAL NOTE: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4th quarter. This year's 4th quarter is a bit bittersweet for me. This year's current 7th grade class was my first 1st grade class. Even as the students have moved on to other grades they have still been a very active part of my life- seeing them in the hallways, watching them grow up. If Trivium East continued to exist that would be the same for my current group of students. But that is not how it is going to be. I am going to Roosevelt next year. While I will have the pleasure of watching many of them grow up at Roosevelt, at least half of my beloved students are going to Trivium. For those going to Trivium, this quarter may well be the last quarter I will ever see them. NAMING THE GOOD! - Yay for the 13 Colonies history unit!!!!!!!!! Have a fun week! |
